Imagine partnering with business leaders to develop employees into civic-minded, change agents.

    • What leadership competencies are needed for your region’s desired future?
    • How can you help develop culturally-competent leaders as change agents?
    • What is your role in developing and retaining talent?

Competent, inclusive, and collaborative employees are the competitive advantage for employers. Prior to the pandemic, employers struggled to recruit and retain talented employees. Then the pandemic caused so many employers to pause, shift, and cut back on talent initiatives. Now that local economies are starting to recover, many leaders are fearful of losing their top talent.

The diversity in communities and companies has changed. Demographic diversity, social unrest, and changing work expectations require different leadership competencies. This is a prime opportunity for member-based organizations to go beyond civic leadership programs to help develop and engage emerging leaders. The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber is launching The Leadership Center to develop civic-minded, change agent leaders that are making a difference in their organizations and in communities.

How can you develop the next generation of leaders for your community?

Guest Speaker

Amy Thompson has been bringing people together to learn and grow since she was 12 years old when she led a camp in her backyard. She spent twenty years working at Camp Joy where she found a passion for bringing groups of people together to learn about themselves and others through experiences in the great outdoors. After spending 6 years as the Executive Director of Camp Joy, she made the move from serving kids in the woods to working with kids in adult bodies in the concrete jungle and joined the team at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Her unique background of experiential education helped the team elevate their leadership programs. Amy and team launched The Leadership Center to provide a progressive suite of talent development programs for their members.

The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber is one of the nation’s largest chambers, representing the interests of 4,000-member businesses. Its mission is to leverage the potential of the business community to create economic prosperity for the region. The Chamber serves its membership and the Cincinnati USA community through leadership and professional development programs, government advocacy, festivals and events, regional vision and collaboration, money-saving benefit programs, networking opportunities, and educational programs. Amy serves on a number of boards in the community to keep her connected to families and the outdoors. She is currently the fundraising chair for Valley View Foundation and is part of the executive committee for the Greater Cincinnati YMCA. When she is not working or serving the community, you can find her spending time with her 14-year old daughter.
