When your team thinks about the term “engagement”:

    • What percentage of your members do you believe are unengaged and why?
    • Do you have difficulty defining and measuring engagement?
    • Where could you realistically increase engagement?

If you said that only about 25% of your members are engaged, I wouldn’t be surprised. For most member-based organizations, engagement levels don’t peak higher than 33%.

Why is that that so many members joined the organization and have little or no engagement? Not every member needs to be engaged all the time, but don’t you wish more members would be engaged and you could influence that intentionally?

Unlike revenue, expenses and member count, there is no standard method for guiding engagement, although we know that engagement is highly correlated to retention.

Most of the engagement that is tracked is transactional. For membership to be highly valued, members need to be engaged with your purpose, feel a sense of belonging within your communities, and find meaningful ways to contribute.

It’s time to intentionally drive engagement for your organization!
